This page is very, well...Opinionated. I've use a LOT of stuff over the years and I thought to put here what just WORKS! Either on it's own, as teamed up with other parts.
And sure, everyone has the "Thing" that works best for them, but this is unbiased and designed to give some 'other' ideas instead of the same old same old.
From drivetrain layouts, to tire/wheel ideas, to why I do what I do. Take it with a grain of salt, or better yet? Try it!
You never know what/where the next great idea will come from!
And if you have one? Shoot me an email...I'm all ears!
Drivetrains: e*thirteen HelixR cassette (9-50t 12 speed), TRP TR12 Shifter/derailleur, e*13 carbon (or alloy) cranks and ring, riding in a e*13 BB, all tied together with a YBN chain.
Why: My go to drive train. Period. And yes, the SRAM AXS is really nice! But very high end and not any better than this option, IMHO. I use this setup on EVERY build, even gravel bikes! The setup shifts flawlessly and is super easy to setup with some slick features! And I've not had an issue, AT ALL, in years with any of this. The Cranks are Super light (lightest out there) and super strong. The BB's hold up for a LONG time and the chains are bulletproof. Light. Fast shifting and superb!
Tires: In a nutshell? The wider the better!! Always! Weight be damned. Really. Just go big! Better grip, no less rolling resistance and super plush when needed! 2.6" on my MTB's, 3" on my touring bikes, 50+mm on my gravel/city bikes! Fast, functional and durable! And extra grippy if you need it!
